How to take a screenshot

Learn how to take a screenshot of data and graphs in the Hub to share them with others

The Clean Water Hub generates eye-catching graphs that make it easy to visualize and understand trends in water quality. Learn how to take a screenshot so you can share these graphs with your community.

For PC Computers

Method 1: Print Screen

Click and hold the windows key and print screen (or PrtScn) key at the same time.

Your screen will go dim and a screenshot of your entire screen will be saved.

Locate the screenshot in the screenshots folder (This PC > Pictures > Screenshots). You will need to crop your screenshot.

Method 2: Snipping Tool

Select Start, enter "snipping tool," then select it from the results.

Select "New" to take a screenshot.

Use your mouse to click and drag a rectangle surrounding the image you'd like to screenshot.

The screenshot is automatically copied to your clipboard. To save the image to your computer, select File > Save in the snipping tool window.

For Mac Computers

Method 1: Shift + Command + 3

This key combination will take a screenshot of your entire screen.

Press and hold these three keys together: Shift, Command, and 3.

A screenshot of your entire screen will be saved.

By default, screenshots save to your desktop with the name ”Screen Shot [date] at [time].png.” You will need to crop your screenshot.

Method 2: Shift + Command + 4

This key combination will let you capture a specific part of your screen.

Press and hold these three keys together: Shift, Command, and 4.

Click and drag to highlight any area of your screen. Let go of the mouse button or trackpad to capture a screenshot of the selected area.

By default, screenshots save to your desktop with the name ”Screen Shot [date] at [time].png."
