Road salt (sodium chloride) keeps us safe on roads and sidewalks in the winter, but too much of it can threaten wildlife and human health. Salt Watch is a national community science program where volunteers can order free kits to track levels of chloride in their local streams throughout the year. By raising awareness and using real data, we can make smarter and safer salting decisions!
